The calls and email inquiries continue to come in strong. People want a Concealed Carry Weapons license. Citizens are serious about protecting themselves and their families in these uncertain times.
Based on all of the inquiries, we want to clear up a few points of confusion related to questions we’ve been asked repeatedly of late.
Many people think they can take a simple online class to earn a certificate to apply for their license with the Wisconsin Department of Justice. This is not true. Countless students have learned this the hard way after they’ve spent a good bit of money online for a class. The DOJ does not allow online training of any sort as a form of training to apply for the concealed carry weapon license in our state. A live, in-person course from a certified instructor is required. However, live fire is not required in our state.
The DOJ also allows proof of training in the form of a hunter’s safety license, or military honorable discharge DD 214 papers. That said, we highly recommend people take a course to learn and fully understand safe handling expectations of handguns, and the multitude of legal obligations and liabilities involved with being a safe, educated, confident concealed carrier.
We exist to build confidence and skills in our students! We are thrilled to continue to empower people to be their own first responders and effectively protect their families by understanding the laws and carrying safely.
